About
The work starts with listening.
Shakiera Stokes is an actor based in the Washington, D.C. metro area, available for film, television, theatre, and commercial work throughout the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region.
She trained at Green Room Acting across scene study, method technique, and on-camera work for film and television. Five of her ten courses were taught by CSA casting directors — Ellen Jacoby, Judy Bouley, Chadwick Struck, Ricki Maslar, and Ani Avetyan — alongside working actors including Jonathan Lipnicki and Ilia Volok. The through-line of that training is preparation: arriving off-book, specific, and ready to be redirected.
She is a neurodivergent actor, which shapes how she works — close attention to text, an ear for rhythm in dialogue, and a habit of finding the detail in a scene that other people walk past.
Outside of performance, she is the founder of a creative and technology practice, and brings that same producer’s instinct to set: prepared, early, and difficult to rattle.
